Kindergarten is in full swing!

Ashton has just completed his first nine weeks of kindergarten!! Can you believe it?!?! He got his first report card yesterday. I can't believe that its that time already. He did really good on his scores for the first time around. We have a couple of things that we need to practice on over fall break, but for the most part I think he is where he needs to be for right now. :-) Alex and I are both very proud of him!

With his first report card yesterday came his ONE & ONLY fundraiser for the year. The school is doing a "read-a-thon" to raise money. All the money they raise will go directly to the school and they've set a goal of 60,000 and $25,000. Ashton has gotten one sponsor so far and hopefully we will get some more in the coming weeks. We have until November 3rd. :-) They have some really cool prizes being offered for each level of earnings. I thought of a few that were coo, but he told me he was going for the scooter! He has to raise $500 in order to get that! Anyone want to donate?!?! :p

Today, Alex and I were able to go to the kindergarten awards day and watch Ashton get his very first award. We were incredibly proud of him!!! Ashton received the Cougar Award in his class!! That is a super big deal and we're very excited for him. He also got a free dinner at the "green roof place" aka Outback for having perfect attendance this nine week period. YAY Ashton!!!

I think Ashton might have been a LITTLE excited about his award since he did RUN to get it!

Here is Ashton and his super sweet teacher, Mrs. Dawn! He loves her to death.

The End of Fall Ball

Fall ball has come and gone!! This was the quickest season ever. Ashton was so upset about it ending that he cried a little on the way home last night. He didn't want it to be his last game!

This is a team picture they took last Saturday with what kids they had there. There hasn't been a single game where everyone showed up. :-)

Here's another with them all being silly. It kind of fits the team, I think.
It was a good season. I could really tell that some of the kids had made some major improvements by the end of the season. We appreciate Coach Butch taking time to help the kids and I know Alex is glad its over. He was not prepared for the assistant coaching spot he ended up with!

Maddie and her worksheets

Maddie loves doing worksheets!! Normally, she wants to do them while I am sewing. With the extravaganza just a week away, I've been sewing like crazy trying to get ready. So, I read her the directions on the page and then she wants to sit down and do them. I couldn't help but snap a picture yesterday as she sat in the floor literally under my chair doing them. She likes them so much she can do a whole book before stopping. She loves it! I hope that is some indication that she is going to like school as she grows up. :-)

Putt Putt Golf

After lunch yesterday, Alex and I decided to take advantage of the great weather and take the kids to putt putt. As Alex will tell you, I'm not very good at sports, but I managed to get three holes in one, Ashton got one and Alex got a couple too. Maddie takes a little after me and wasn't real good at the putt putt thing. She wanted to drag her ball around rather than hit it. Of course, she's only 4 so maybe there is still hope that she can be athletic. :-)

Birthday Surprise

Last week, Alex decided to pull out all the stops and surprise me for my birthday! Of coure, my birthday isn't for several more weeks so I was not expecting a thing. Alex doesn't really get all excited over birthdays and so I would have never even thought about him doing this. He told me we were going out for a overnight date night downtown. He got up not feeling good, so I was already thinking this wasn't going to be the most fun because he just didn't feel well. We get to the hotel and he opened the door only to find thirteen of my favorite girls. I was absolutely speechless and in total shock! He had thought of it all. He had a great night planned for us. We had dinner in the room, each of us got a 45 minute massages, a pedicure and then we had a chocolate fountain and snacks to carry us through the night. It was great! We had a lot of fun!
Thanks Alex for the best surprise ever!!!! I love you!
