Catching up.....

Alright, so it has been a week and I'm being asked where the blogs are. I've been a little busy, so blogging took the back burner. Wednesday was basically uneventful, but Thursday, on the other hand, Maddie and I were in a car accident. For those of you that don't know, this is Maddie's SECOND accident in Alex's company van in the last 6 months and yes, she is only 21 months old. That is more accidents that I've been involved in during my entire 27 years. WOW!

Saturday was another BUSY day for us. We started the morning out taking advantage of the "tax free" shopping weekend by doing a little clothes shopping. Then it was off to Pump It Up (one of our FAVORITE play date locations) for Jack's birthday party. It was a lot of fun and we were glad to have been invited. The kids took SHORT naps and then it was off to Dylan's birthday party at the high school with ANOTHER inflatable to play in with dinasours and all. It was cool and Ashton REALLY liked it. Maddie was a little unsure though! That was all the fun the kids could handle, so it was wind down time and off to bed. However, Alex was just getting started and headed off to a late night movie with some of the men from church and I stayed up late working on an order for burp cloths.

Sunday, we had a big day with Brandon, Casey and Addison!!! First, they joined us at church and then we headed back to the house for a BBQ lunch and LOTS of visiting. We were SO SO SO excited to see them. It just doesn't happen enough!!!!

So far this week, there isn't a lot to tell. But tomorrow is going to be a BIG DAY for Alex and Ashton so stay tuned for that....

Busy Start to the Week

This week has started out busy and yet fun. The kids are worn out and it is only Tuesday night. Monday morning we got up early and headed over to play with Jamie & Ansley while Jack napped. We played outside taking advantage of the beautiful weather. The trampoline has absolutely been the favorite toy at the Kimbro house. Of course, Maddie calls it "jumpy" instead of a trampoline. It is cute!
The swingset was probably Ashton's favorite thing next to the trampoline and he went up and down the slide a million times.

And Maddie, WOW! I'm not sure if Jamie and I could have gotten her in or out of this swing once more. LOL!

After a morning of fun and some naps, the kids got to spend their afternoon playing with Kaleb, Katrina and Erik. They thoroughly enjoyed that as well.
Tuesday brought more fun and another day of enjoying the weather. It was a great afternoon of playing with friends. What more can you ask for on a pretty day? Lets hope for a great rest of the week!!

The Journey

Last November, I had a booth in the West Elementary School's Fall Festival for Maddie Moo's Boutique. I was surrounded by great booths, but the one across from me was the one that made the biggest impact on me. It was a booth for The Journey. I got to know a few of the people from The Journey that day and thought it'd be a great place for Alex, the kids and I to try. I'd been wanting to get our family back in church for a while, but it just wasn't happening for us. There was always an excuse and we never went. I went home that afternoon excited about what I had learned and couldn't wait to tell Alex all about it. I wanted us to give it a try! I was impressed with how friendly these people were and how comfortable they made me feel. Alex listened to what I had to say, but just didn't seem real interested in going. Over the next few months, I mentioned to him the prospect of us going, but we never did.

Finally, after months of it tugging at my heart for us to try this church atleast once, I decided that I was going to take the kids and if Alex wanted to join us GREAT, if not, we'd go alone. I wanted to go. I knew we needed to go. And we (the kids and I) were going! Alex decided to go with us and I have to admit, it was unlike any church we'd ever been to. Alex and I were not used to a live band or the casual dress at church before. Erik Reed, the pastor of the Journey, does a great job delivering the message. I've never felt so connected to God during a worship service like I do every Sunday at The Journey. It is an amazing experience!!

We've been attending The Journey since the end of January and WE LOVE IT!!!! I think we all look forward to Sunday each week because we enjoy it so much! The kids are constantly asking if today is "church day". We've made a lot of new friends and we're getting involved in activities at the church. It is a great place! I'd STRONGLY encourage anyone looking for a new place to go or just a place to go period to give The Journey a try. It has truly changed our family's lives!! It has brought Alex and I closer together as well as made our family stronger as a whole.

If you want to come check it out, we meet on Sunday mornings at 10am at West Elementary school in Mt Juliet. We'd love for you all to join us!

Saturday Wrap Up

Believe it or not, I got to sleep in this morning!!! Can you believe it? I know what you are all thinking right now... "Wow, something must be wrong with Alex or he wants something. He passed up sleep this morning to let Courtney sleep in. That is a miracle!" Well, you can guess again. Maddie just slept late. It was wonderful and I'm hoping for a repeat tonight! Let's all say an extra prayer for this one.

Alex spent the day at the Ignite Conference with his friend Trey and Trey's cousin. He seemed to have enjoyed it and I'm really glad he got to go! The kids and I spent the first half of the day at our friends house playing. They got to ride on some cool toys unlike what we have at home and the biggest hit of all, jump on the trampoline! We'll have to get one of those next. Thanks Jamie! LOL!

As you can see, Daddy and Ashton got in to a little bit of something while I put Maddie to bed. Ashton decided that he wanted to be like his "best friend" Kaleb. So, as you can tell, Daddy took care of that one for him. Our son is officially "tatted up" with sleeves like his pal Kaleb. Isn't it amazing how kids want to be like their friends?

Fun for all!!

Thursday the kids and I spent the morning playing around the house. We built "towers" out of legos, played hockey and dolls. Of course, Maddie tends to play with more of Ashton's toys then her own. After some lunch and naps, Maddie and I, along with our new shopping pal, Katrina, went and did a little shopping at the outlet mall. Boy, was that nice!! I've not done a lot of shopping lately and could definitely use some more time to do that. LOL Alex and Ashton, on the other hand, had some "male bonding time". They met up with Erik and Kaleb (our pastor and his son, whom Ashton will quickly tell you is his best friend) in Mount Juliet for a little go cart riding and hitting golf balls around. They seemed to really enjoy that.

Tonight, the Kimbro's, the Jones' and the Reed's all joined us for a cookout. The kids all got to play in the bouncy thing, ride bikes, tractors & scooters, as well as run around in the backyard UNTIL the rain came. Then we moved it in to the garage for a bit. Meanwhile, the Dads hung out in the garage watching the Preds game and the Mom's stayed inside chatting. It was nice to just sit around with friends and relax. I wish we could do it more often!!

Hope you all have a great weekend! I'm not sure yet what we've (the kids and I) got planned. Alex is going to the Ignite Conference at New Hope Baptist tomorrow, which I'm sure he'll enjoy. I can't wait to hear all about it. I'm a little bummed that I won't get to join him. :( Maybe next time.

So far this week...

Alright, so I've started this blogging thing and can't help but finding myself feeling the need to post something each day. However, there really isn't much to tell. The last couple of days have been pretty boring for us. Monday, Alex took the kids to Home Depot to buy a pull behind trailer for the lawnmower. Of course, Ashton calls it a wagon because Daddy has taken him and Maddie on rides around the yard and up and down the driveway. Yes, he has started something now! Stay tuned for pictures of that....

Ashton goes to "school" on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so Maddie and I get OUR time to just be girls. Yet, we didn't do anything this week. We hung out at home. Today, she TRIED to assist me in cleaning house. What that basically means is she sat on the vacuum while Mommy pulled her around vacuuming. She seems to think that is help... I beg to differ. Needless to say, it does keep her occupied and I don't have to wonder what she is getting in to for that brief amount of time. Any mom reading this right now is saying, "yeah well that is help in a roundabout way." LOL.

Well, hopefully tomorrow will be more eventful and I'll have more to tell. We MAY have a playdate with one of our newest buds, Katrina and Kaleb. Just have to wait and see!

Finally!!

I set this blog up to keep everyone up with what was going on with our family and I've been awful at it. I've put NOTHING on here. Hopefully, I can change that and start doing better.

We've been very busy lately. We have started attending a new church, The Journey, in Mt Juliet and LOVE IT!! We've met some amazing people whom we've grown close to. The kids seem to be enjoying it as well. Ashton asks some mornings if it is "church day" and then is sad when I say no. It is cute!

I've met some new stay at home moms lately and the kids and I have been going on a lot of play dates. It has been nice to get to know other moms and for the kids to get to play with other kids their ages. Of course, Alex says he needs to get a part time job to financially support all this additional activity. LOL.

Maddie got a new scooter and LOVES it!!

Ashton likes his too.
