Family Fun

Friday, I took the kids to join some friends for a morning at Pump It Up. We've not been there in a long while and I thought it would be a nice treat. Afterwards, we all went to have pizza and do a little shopping. Mommy always to throw some shopping in to our trips. LOL. The kids had a great time!!
Saturday morning, we headed out early for Ashton's soccer pictures prior to his 9am game. He was a little unsure on the whole picture thing. Finally the lady was trying to get him to smile, laugh, do anything other than look sad. She said "your daddy has stinky feet" and Ashton broke down in tears. He told her to not be ugly to his dad. Needless to say her shot at making him smile went the total opposite way. We "probably" won't be getting good pictures out of this one.

The game time, however, was much better. Ashton may not be too great at soccer yet, but he is loving it. He smiles from ear to ear the entire time he is on the field. I can't wait to see how excited he gets when he actually scores!
He does score here, but this is just him practicing with the team right before the game started. I'm sure it is just a matter of time and he'll do the same in the actual game. :)

Here is a cute shot of Alex and Ashton on the "bench" watching the rest of the team play.

Sunday, we went to church and then came home and took it easy. We had some family time and then had some friends over to visit for dinner. It was a nice end to a peaceful and relaxing weekend!

I've been slacking, I know.

I've been slacking a little in the blogging department. Sorry! I'll try to get back on track.

Monday, the kids and I went to Mt Juliet and did a little shopping. We ran in to some friends (Jamie, Ansley and Jack) and so we all had lunchtogether. It was nice for the kids to get to play because they don't get to play together as much as they'd like.

Tuesday, I spent the day attempting a scrapbook for the upcoming fall festival. I really wanted to get something cute together for people to look at..... So, Katrina offered to help me out, since she is the scrapbooking queen! We didn't finish it, but we are well on our way. I did officially do one whole page, but otherwise I was pretty useless. I'll have to give Katrina all the credit on this one.

Wednesday, after I dropped the kids off at school, I ran some errands and then had lunch with my dad. We rarely get to sit down and have much conversation because the kids want to show Papa Monkey everything they can do or anything new they have. It was a pleasant visit and we really got to kind of catch up on what has been going on. By the way.... Maddie has finally adapted to going to school and for two weeks now we've had no tears or breakdowns over going. I think she is actually enjoying it now!!!! I'm VERY relieved!!!!

Today has been a pretty lazy day. The kids and I spent the day at home. I did a little sewing and picking up around the house, then we watched a movie together. While they laid down for naps, I went to a sewing class. No, I didn't leave them home alone.... Alex was home early today! LOL

Tomorrow is going to be a big "play" day. We haven't been to Pump It Up in forever, so I'm treating the kids to a morning of playing. We are going to get up and go to toddler timer and then probably have some lunch with friends. I'm sure I'll have some cute pictures since we've not been in a while. Stay tuned and I'll try to stay a little more up to date!

Picnic at the Lake with Daddy

Today, Alex took the kids to the lake to have a picnic while I was at a Women's One Day Getaway. They had lunch, played with the ducks and seemed to really have a good time. Here are several pictures from the day.

Ashton and his big "cheese" for the camera!

The two of them just looking at the ducks and taking it all in.

And this is Ashton "hugging" his sister. Some might say this looks a little more like "choking", but this is what he calls "hugging"! LOL

Deer on the sidewalk

Yesterday morning, I walked across the living room to go in the kitchen for Maddie's milk cup. Out of the corner of my eye, something caught my attention. I went back to look and see what or whom was standing on the porch. To my surprise, it was three deer standing on the sidewalk at the bottom of the steps to our front door. I called for Alex and Maddie to come see and Maddie's screaming scared them off. They went in to our neighbor's yard and looked back.

Ashton was totally devastated when he woke up and found out that he has missed the entire thing. He loves to see "reindeer" as he calls them.

Meeting Max

This morning after I dropped the kids off at school, I got to go over to Brandon and Courtney's house and meet my new nephew, Max. He is adorable! He seems to be a peaceful, quiet baby. I hardly heard a peep out of him the entire time I was there. However, I did get a couple of smiles out of him.
He is being super good to his parents so far. Long spurts between feedings, lots of sleep.... what more could you ask for? I just really hope he keeps it up for his parents' sake!!!

Ashton wasn't too happy with me this afternoon when he found out that I went to see Max without him. He said "I wanted to go see my couzent (cousin) baby Max" and proceeded to cry. :( I felt bad, but know he'll get to meet him soon!
Here is a picture after he had to get his clothes changed and he FINALLY opened his eyes to look at me! He is a really cute little boy!

Our Big Soccer Player!!!

Ashton had his very first soccer game this past Saturday. They started out doing a little practice session because most of the kids have never played soccer before. Here is a picture of Ashton kicking his first goal. This is a picture of him after his team scored their first goal once the game started. He was excited!!!
I love this picture of him trying his best to chase the ball down. Of course, Alex and I had to try and explain to him on the way home that he was supposed to try and take the ball from the other team. We told him this is the one time you don't have to share. LOL.
Here is our big boy after his first game! His mohawk had just about fell down totally by the end of the game. He did great though and we're very proud of him!!!

New and Exciting Arrival

I am thrilled to announce that Friday, September 12th our first nephew arrived. Maxwell Alexander Dillard was born weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces and 21 inches long. Courtney, Brandon and Max are all doing well. He is an adorable little boy and I can't wait to meet him!!!

A week in one...

This week has been a good one for us! Monday, Alex was off work and we did a little bit of a family day. It was nice. We don't get to do as many of those as I wish we could. Tuesday, I had lunch with my dad while the kids were at school, then spent the afternoon with some friends. Wednesday, I did some sewing while the kids were at school, then we had some friends over for dinner. After dinner we played some cards and yes, I got beat. BADLY!! When we got done playing cards we realized that Ashton wasn't laying on the rug watching a movie anymore. We weren't sure where he went. We started looking around and found him like this.

For those of you that haven't been to our house, this is in our kitchen floor. He has curled up right against the cabinets and fallen to sleep. Alex, our company and I all stood there laughing our heads off because we'd looked everywhere, including outside, and he was right there the whole time. He was so tired that he never even woke up with us laughing over him.

Thursday, I had an Uppercase Living Party at my house. It was a lot of fun!! Friday, the kids and I got out and ran a few errands, met some friends for lunch and then did some shopping. Friday night, Alex and I had a date night. We went out for dinner and a movie. It was nice to have some time to ourselves. That definitely doesn't happen as much as we'd like!!
Yesterday, three girls from my Wednesday night bible study and I went to see Angela Thomas do a live conference in Gallatin. I have never been to a conference before and I really enjoyed it. For those of you that don't know who Angela Thomas is, she is funny! She can be a little goofy at times, but I think that is what keeps my attention. You never know what she is going to say next. Our group just finished one of her video series and so it was perfect timing to get to go to the conference. Hopefully, we are going to start another one of her series. I can't wait!!
