Opening Day

A couple of weeks ago was opening day for baseball. Ashton was bummer the hockey season came to an end but jumped right in to baseball again and he enjoys it as well. I got a few good pictures of one of his times at bat and thought I'd share.

It was his first pitch and he got a good hit out of it. I think he actually made it to second base. We were super proud of him and look forward to the rest of the season.

Kaleb's Ice Skating Party

Kaleb had an ice skating birthday party a couple weeks ago. Everyone had a fabulous time and really enjoyed their time skating.
I took lots of pictures and these are just a few. Ashton was practicing his "throwing snow" technique as he calls it.
This was Maddie's first time ice skating since she has learned how to rollerblade. Alex was fully prepared to assist her, but to our surprise she just hoped out there and took off like she had done it before. It was awesome! We couldn't believe it.
She didn't stop the entire time. She was worn out afterwards.

Another Nine Weeks in the Books

Another 9 weeks has come and gone. It's hard to believe that this school year is already coming to an end. At the awards ceremony, Ashton got recognized for perfect attendance. He was excited about that. :-)
After those awards were over, the 1st grade did their AR awards and Ashton got his additional beads. He has done a great job with his reading and has just gotten moved up a little more. It is so hard to believe that he can read so many books. WOW! He's growing up so fast!
We are extremely proud of our big reader!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

March started out with a celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. The festivities at school were in full swing. I, of course, got lots and lots of pictures. I thought I'd share a few. Maddie had a great time. The kids went from room to room with activities. They had cat in the hat read them a story, they made hat with oreos and lifesavers, ate green eggs and ham and much more.I was glad I got to take part in the event and see how much fun the kids had with it. :-)

Hockey Season Wrap Up

I can't believe the hockey season is already over for us! It seems like we just got started and Ashton was barely moving around the ice. Now he zips around like he's been skating all his life. Its crazy!!! I got extremely picture happy after getting my camera back from being repaired so get ready!
I can only catch him looking at me for a picture on occassion.
He stands patiently waiting for his turn.
His stick looks bigger than he is.
They were doing drills going in and out of the cones. I just loved how I caught him on the sides of his skates like that.
Speedy
He really wasn't looking at me, but I can still tell myself that he was. :-)
He's checking out his goal!
Another picture I just thought was cute!
Just because you are a girl and on the ground, doesn't mean he won't steal your puck!
Coach Alex behind the bench. :-) I'm so glad he got to help with Ashton's team this year. Ashton loved having him out there to share this time with him. Way to go Dad!!!!

Jump Rope for Heart

The PE teacher at Coles Ferry chooses students that are the best in their grade level at jumping rope and then those children jump at the Jump Rope for Heart competition. Ashton wasn't so good at it last year and wasn't asked but this year both of the kids got asked.
Maddie wasn't the best at jumping and was about the third girl to have to sit down, but she did her best and we were proud of her. :-)
Ashton did a good job and made it, along with four other boys, to the second round of his boys competition.
The second round, you had to jump rope backwards and Ashton isn't as good at that, so he was eliminated that round. He did his best too and we are super excited for both of them for making it to where they did.

Valentine's Day

Each year the Kindergarten at Coles Ferry do a penny hunt on Valentine's day. Its a way of teaching kids the value of money. Once they've collected pennies in the gym floor, they get to go and purchase baggies of candy with them. Its a neat little thing they do.
Here are a couple of pictures I got of Maddie.
Later in the afternoon, we did a party in Maddie's classroom. The kids passed out valentines for one another, did a craft and played twister. The kids had a great time.
Next was Ashton's party, which Maddie got to also go to. She got double time! His class also played twister and had a lot of fun with it. They lasted a lot longer too.
Here is a picture of Ashton walking around the room checking things out. ;-)
