They made the paper....

Last Saturday night, Alex and Ashton decided they needed to have some "boy time" and go to the Chick fil a car shower. Ashton was so excited and Alex said he has a great time. They were interviewed by the paper, but we didn't really think they'd make it in the article. The man from the paper had interviewed several people and taken lots of pictures. However, Alex was at work yesterday and someone told him that they had seen him and his son in the paper. :-) So, he went and picked up a few copies of the paper.
My boys in the paper hanging out at the car show! Who would have thought?!?!?!

A trip to the batting cage

Ashton has decided he wants to play fall ball and we found out today that he will have to go to try outs on Saturday. He has never played machine pitch before and Alex decided it would be a good idea to take him to the batting cage to get him used to it before his try out. I was a little worried about him playing, but then we got to the cages and he did awesome!! He wasn't intimidated at all!!
He hit a great deal of them. I was so proud of him. I never dreamed he would do so well on the first try!! No more nerves for Mom!
Of course, when we were done Maddie had to have a try at the bat. Alex grabbed a few balls Ashton didn't hit and let her try them. As you can tell, she was a little bit excited!!

Granny & Pa's

My grandparents live about 35-40 minutes away from us and I don't get to their house to visit quite as much as I should. This morning, I decided to take the kids over and spend some time with them.

Pa took them out back to show them his garden, which they both thought was cool.
Ashton had to really check out just how big his tomatoes were and tell Pa how much his Daddy liked to eat tomatoes. It was cute for me to watch from the sidelines. :-)

Granny loves to play games with the kids. I can remember that was one thing we ALWAYS did as a kid when we went to her house. Today it was bingo and the kids had a ton of fun with that!

Just before we left, Granny and Pa came outside and watched the kids run around and play in their front yard. Ashton was obsessed with checking out the birdhouses my Pa has put out. It was a good visit for the kids!

Daxton is here

Friday morning, Daxton Kyle Romer FINALLY arrived!!!! He weighed 6 lbs and 8 ounces and was 19 inches long. I'm really happy for my sister and her family! Ashton and Maddie are pretty excited to. Ashton didn't want anyone else to hold him, but him. It was cute!

Summer Afternoon

Ashton and Maddie are going to bible camp this week. Yesterday when I picked them up, they said they wanted to go home and ride their bikes. So, we came home, got a snack and headed outside.

I am amazed at how far they have both come where their bikes are concerned. I can just barely remember Ashton getting on his bike for the first time and yesterday he was standing on the pegs on the back. (see picture above) I was blown away. When did my little boy get so big?!?!?!
And Maddie, she is a mess. I caught her taking a break from riding to chase a bug down the driveway. It was so cute! She is not afraid of stuff like that. She will try to catch them if she can. A couple weeks ago she came in to show me that she had caught a caterpillar and was holding it. They are growing up so fast!

Big Weekend

Friday, Addison came to visit us while Casey went to the doctor. She is going to be so disappointed when Daxton arrives because she won't be making "Friday" visits to Sissy's house. She has been looking forward to them each week and we've enjoyed getting to spend so much time with her.
Saturday morning, Alex and Brandon (my brother-in-law) took the kids to Jimmy Floyd to swim. Meantime, Casey and I stayed home to prepare for Maddie's birthday party.

The party was a big hit! Maddie had a fantastic time and Ashton has decided he wants to have his there now instead of Pump It Up! We are so glad that her friends were able to come and that everyone enjoyed it!

Happy Birthday Maddie

Today is Maddie's birthday!! It is so hard to believe she is FOUR YEARS OLD already!!!! Boy how times flies!

She was so excited this morning. She couldn't wait for everyone to get up and for us to get started with all the fun! She got a phone call from Addison on her way to school to tell her happy birthday and I couldn't resist taking a picture. They were so cute on the phone together!
We let her open ONE present before we left to have breakfast. She was excited to see that Ashton had gotten her a phone (like Daddy's) and a drivers license. Isn't it funny the things kids get excited about?!?!
For breakfast we took the kids to the Pfunky Griddle. It was a neat place. You get to make your own pancakes on a griddle built in to your table. Each of us got to choose one topping to go into our pancake batter. Alex got strawberries, me apples, Ashton chocolate chips and Maddie chose m & m's. Yes, a great way to start the day! LOTS OF SUGAR.... as if Maddie needed to be any more excited!
After we got home, we let her open a couple more presents and then we headed off to Jimmy Floyd to do some swimming!! We had a really good time and Ashton and Maddie were tired when we got done. Of course, Maddie was pleasantly surprised when she got home. She had a special delivery waiting in the garage on the steps! She had a bouquet of balloons attached to a present. She screamed with excitement and couldn't wait to get inside to check it out!! (We have some of the greatest friends!!)
After a short rest, we had dinner with Papa, Grammy and Papa Monkey at the "peanut place" (aka Logan's). Maddie didn't think she'd had enough sugar, so she was anxious for everyone to finish up their dinner so we could have cake.
Once she ate just the icing, she wanted to see what she got from her grandparents. Yes, there were MORE presents! She was more than excited!
It has been a great day and I'm so glad that Alex got to stay home today and spend it with us!!!

Happy 4th of July

The kids have been so excited about the fireworks. Last year we only bought a few little things for them to do and then we just watched everyone else. They love to watch! So, this year we decided we'd do the same thing. Since we were going to some friends' house to cookout, we carried some sparklers and a few other little things with us. We barely got done eating and Maddie was asking when it was time for fireworks. :-)

Sparklers before we headed to Mt Juliet to watch the fireworks at Providence from a friend's office to avoid the traffic after the show. Smart idea!!!!!

More Sparklers while they waited on Mt Juliet to start.

Mommy and Maddie watching the fireworks. She did NOT want to take pictures!

Every one was his favorite!

We had a great time and the kids really enjoyed the show! They were already asking on the way home when were we going to do more fireworks!!!

Swimming with Addison

Today, Addison came to spend some time with us while Casey went to the doctor. We decided we'd go to Jimmy Floyd and swim. I wasn't sure how Addison would do since she doesn't go to the pool too often, but she did great!
Here is a picture of all of us in the water and then one of Ashton checking on Alex.

The three of them had a fun time while we were there!

Here is Addison floating all alone using her duckie.

She had no fear whatsoever! She was going down the slide and everything. I sure wish Maddie was a little more like that!!
