Fall Ball Time

Monday night, Ashton started his fall ball season. Alex wasn't planning on it, but he is helping out as an assistant coach and I love seeing my boys out there together. Alex did a great job at the first game. He is definitely having his patience tested!
Ashton did a great job during the game and the coach, Butch, gave him the game ball. He said that he'd gotten a great hit and did a good job stopping balls. YAY!!! Ashton was definitely excited and couldn't wait to show us the ball.

GYMNASTICS!!!!

Maddie has been asking to take gymnastics. We kept putting it off, but with Ashton on his second season of baseball, we decided it was time to give her a chance. Monday, we started our first class. Maddie COULD NOT wait until it was time to go. She and her friend, Jaden, are in the same class and that just made it all the more exciting to her.
The first class went pretty good. They did some stretching, a bridge, rolls, hand stands and a few other little things. Maddie just thought it was all the coolest thing ever. She loved that we could watch her and kept checking to see if we had seen what she had just done. The grin on her face couldn't get any bigger! I'm so glad she enjoyed it and can't wait to watch how much easier it gets for her over time!

Update on Kindergarten

Ashton is LOVING Kindergarten!!! His first day with his teacher, Mrs. Dawn, last week was great and he seems to really like her. She has complimented him almost every day and as parents, we love it! He has come home every day telling us all about what they've done and just can't get all the words out fast enough. He has met several new "best friends" as he likes to call them all.
Monday, we talked him in to trying the lunch line for a milk to have with his lunch from home. He was intimated by the line, I think. He asked me to pack a drink for him just in case he changed his mind. :-) When he got home, he couldn't wait to tell us that he'd gone through, gotten a milk and opened the carton all by himself! YAY for sucess!! Now, we just have to decide when we're going to try a whole lunch! I will keep you posted on that one!

Feeding the ducks

Sunday after church, I took the kids to feed the ducks at Centennial park right before Alex's hockey game started. We had about a half hour before the game started and so we took advantage of it. I wasn't really sure how this would go. As most of you know, my kids are not the most "animal friendly" twosome! But they did really good and didn't act at all phased by the ducks and birds swarming around them.
Ashton was really concentrating on feeding the smaller, "baby" ducks (as he called them) and Maddie was just going through her bread as fast as she could.
Right before we left, I had them sit down for a quick picture and I couldn't resist sharing it. I love these two!! I'm so thankful I get the opportunity to stay home and do fun things with them!!!!!! Thanks Alex!

Alex's Hockey Tournament

This weekend, Alex played in a hockey tournament with some of his old teammates. His games are usually so late that the kids and I rarely get the watch. This weekend was an expection. We got to watch him play on Friday night and then again this afternoon after church. The kids like getting to watch even though they loose interest usually after just one period. Alex did a great job and the kids were thrilled to get to see him score a few times!!

Ashton started Kindergarten

My big boy has started kindergarten!!!!! It is so hard to believe he has gotten that big already! He didn't really want us to walk in with him, but we did anyway. He walked right inside to the class he was assigned to for the day and put his stuff away. Once he spotted the "boy table", he sat down to color and then looked up and waved to us saying bye like he was a pro! It was so cute, but made me a little sad at the same time. I did good and didn't shed a tear to everyone's surprise! We will see how next week goes! I'm sure I am going to have plenty of stories to tell as the year goes on! Stay tuned.....

While Ashton was at school, Maddie and I met up with one of her friends from Tuesday/Wednesday school and her mom, Cindy for some girl time. We decided to make it our last playdate before school started back. We took the girls to get their nails painted, to have lunch and play at McDonalds and then to Jaden's house to playuntil time to pick Ashton up from school The girls had so much fun and Cindy and I enjoyed catching up after a busy and hectic summer!! Maddie said when we got in the car that we really needed to play with Jaden at her house again soon! :-) I'm glad she had fun!

My 2 Silly Kiddos

The kids and I went shopping this week and they found this little display and couldn't wait to run over and pose behind it. I thought it was pretty funny that they knew just what to do without being told! I figured it was too cute, not to share!

I love these two silly kids!

Chuck E Cheese & Pottery Painting

This week, I really wanted to do a few more fun things with the kids before Ashton headed off to his phase in of kindergarten. So, Monday we did some shopping then went to Chuck E Cheese to play and hang out with friends. They loved it as always!
Tuesday, it was off to paint pottery with some more friends. They had so much fun and can't wait for us to be able to pick up their art to show Daddy.

Here is Maddie working away on her butterfly.

And of course, the drying is one of the most fun parts!
Ashton did a guitar to put in his room. They have both asked when we can go back and paint something else. So, it seems to have been a good idea and we will definitely be going back!
